New York Region

The New York Region Pathwork (NYRP) is a group of about 100 spiritual seekers living in the tri-State area -- New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Most of us have been following this spiritual path for many years. The teachings of the Pathwork came through Eva Pierrakos beginning with the first Guide Lecture on March 11, 1957. At that time, Eva had a small circle of friends who had gathered around her for the purpose of spiritual growth and self finding. Eva was the daughter of the well-known Austrian novelist Jacob Wasserman, and the wife of the son of another famous European novelist, Hermann Broch. Later, she was to marry John Pierrakos, a disciple of Wilhelm Reich and the founder of Bioenergetics along with Alexander Lowen.

In 1975, Eva, chaneling the Guide, married two longtime Pathworkers at the Phoenicia Pathwork Center. This silent video captures the love between all of us at this beautiful ceremony.

The wisdom that poured forth from Eva's insight and connection to the spiritual realms found a growing audience. She delivered lectures once a month, and there were Question and Answer sessions as well. As the group became larger, the gatherings moved from Eva's apartment on the East Side of Manhattan to a loft in the West Village. Then, in 1973, the growing Pathwork bought a retreat center in the Catskill mountains near Phoenicia, New York, which became the New York Pathwork Center. Larger numbers of people began to attend the Lectures and come to the Center for weekend workshops and training in the principles of the Pathwork. Several years later, the Pathwork expanded into a building on East 78th Street and also ran courses and workshops out of that "city Center."

Eva died in 1979, after having delivered 258 Guide Lectures. By this time, the Pathwork had established centers and groups of people practicing the Pathwork principles in over 20 cities across the U.S. and around the world. Many of these Pathwork groups are flourishing today. Here in the New York Region, the Pathwork organization, incorporated as a non-profit educational institution, saw a slowing of activity, with less workshops and offerings. Many people took their knowledge of Pathwork principles and connection to the Pathwork Lectures and moved on, into other paths of spiritual development. Yet many also continued meeting together to read and study the Pathwork Lectures and attain greater spiritual awareness.

The New York Region Pathwork operates under the authority of a Board of Directors. Our current Board President is Laureen Dunne. We offer Friday Night Lecture readings in Manhattan, and occasional retreats and introductions to Pathwork concepts and weekend workshops.
